All of the work that we deliver on our water based activities is linked to national and more local accredited learning. All of our barge skippers and all of our sailing volunteers are well qualified to deliver the work that they do.
On Achieving Together we deliver training (time dependent of course) that is accredited via the OCN and the NCBA to Community Crew, Skipper and Training the Trainer qualification.
On our sailing activities we can deliver training that is linked to the RYA right through (time dependent of course) to Yacht Master and Yacht Master instructor.
All of our volunteers are trained in the following:
- Child Protection: we are a member of the Safe Network and our policy has been approved by a local (Bradford) Safeguarding Board.
- CRB checking
- First Aid
- Food Hygiene
- Youth and Community work
- Teaching practice
We have been for many years an Investor in People organisation. We no longer have this recognition because we can no longer afford to go through the process. We still adhere to best practice when it comes to internal communications, volunteer development and organisational systems.
We are currently AALA accredited. At this moment in time, we do not know what the future of AALA will be. However, as an organisation we have decided (again because of the cost) not to re register with this accreditation. We find ourselves (like many other small groups) having to make some difficult choices about where we spend our money.
